Saffron Dynamo 0 Melton Foxes 2009 4


Foxes fantastic season came to an exciting end with the lads winning the league on the last game of the season, this was a fitting end to a season of high quality football from the lads unbelievably only conceding 2 goals away from home in the whole season!! scoring an amazing 103 league goals in only 20 games losing only twice.   With the Foxes only needing a point for the league they went straight at the hosts building from the back with Tarris getting Thorn and Lewis starting the attacks, the first 5 minutes the game was end to end with both sides looking to attack but it was the Saffron keeper who was called upon to deny a Thorn 25 yard rocket and then a flick from Cragg was tipped round the post.  Carroll and Thurley were now terrorising the Saffron defence and it was only a matter of time before the Foxes scored with Howard finding captain Gavin who tore into the box and struck a sweet shot past the helpless keeper. It was all Foxes now and Hall and Bullimore were joining in the attacks with some sharp precise passing with Kotarba and Gavin now in complete control of the midfield it was Kotarba who found Cragg to beat his fullback with ease spotting Carroll in space to fire in the second and amazingly his 40th goal of the season this was no more than the Foxes deserved and Howard,Carroll and Thurley tested the keeper again before halftime.  Foxes came out for the second half full of confidence and it was soon 3 after good work from Howard and Carroll to find Thurley to score with ease.  On came Mcgarvey, Farmer and Starkey to give some of the other lads a deserved breather and they were straight in the action Mcgarvey going close to scoring.  The 4th came after more good build up play from Lewis,Hall,Kotarba,Gavin and then a lovely pinpoint cross from Howard to find Cragg with only the keeper to beat which he did after a bit of ball juggling!!. This was now an emphatic win to seal the league title by 3 points to the delight of the players,fans and the superb coaching staff who have worked their socks off for the lads also thanks to the linesmen who have been superb aswell.  League champions, 1 semi final 1 quater final all in all a fantastic season as Jason says ONWARDS and UPWARDS well done lads.
